1921 – 2003

LEWISTON – Lionel G. Langlois, 82, of 550 College St., died Sunday, May 11, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.

He was born at St. Narcisse, P.Q., Canada, Jan. 27, 1921, the son of Joseph and Lucie Joly Langlois. He was educated at St. Peter’s Parochial School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart.

He was married May 23, 1946 to Marguerite R. Roy who predeceased him July 3, 2002. Prior to his retirement he was employed for 45 years as a weaver at Bates Manufacturing Co. where he was very active in the AFL-CIO.

He was a member of Holy Family Parish, D.A.V. Chapter 11, American Legion Post 22 and the Holy Family Bowling League. He enjoyed his grandchildren, traveling and playing cards.

He is survived by two daughters, Therese Boies and her husband Robert of Lewiston, Diane Salamon and Kevin Surette of Upton, Mass; three sons, Gerard Langlois and his wife Paula, Norman Langlois and his wife Lorraine all of Lewiston and George Langlois of Chicago; 12 grandchildren, Dan and Jen and Brian and Becky Langlois, Jeff, Ryan and Lianne Marquis, Rebecca Labrie and John Clevenger II, Joshua Labrie, Ryan and Shawn Boies and Kevin, Kelley and Cameron Surette; one great-grandson, Zachary Langlois; two sisters, Jeannine Toussaint and her husband Romeo and Giselle Auger all of Lewiston; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother, Edmond Langlois; and three sisters, Alice Plourde, Irene Poirier and Lucienne Langlois.
