BETHEL – David Garrity, vice chairman of the Maine Democratic Party, was the speaker at a meeting of Oxford County Democrats on April 17 in Fryeburg.

Garrity introduced the new finance regulations stemming from the federal campaign financing law and announced that more training will be available for town and county committees in the coming months.

The redistricting plan for the Maine House of Representatives was reviewed, and an update given on where the issue stands as far as the state senate and the congressional districts.

Garrity reminded the group that Feb. 8, 2004, will the date for Democratic caucuses and that in 2004 there will be no presidential primary in Maine, but that absentee voting will be allowed for the caucuses.

Business meeting topics included fund-raising, plans for the Oxford County and Fryeburg Fairs, the upcoming Maine Democratic Party Retreat and plans for future meetings.

The next meeting of the Oxford County Democrats will be on Thursday, May 15, in Bethel.
