WILTON – A special workshop, “Taking Care of Others,” will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 21, at the SeniorsPlus Community Center.

It will include legal information, guidance about prescription medications, home health care options and information about SeniorsPlus’ Alzheimer and Family Caregiver Support programs.

A representative from Legal Services for the Elderly will talk about powers of attorney, health directives, wills, estate recovery and fraud.

Hannaford pharmacist Steve Maki will talk about the interaction of medications. He will also provide one-on-one consultations.

“Bring all medications for yourself or the person you take care of, and he will review them and tell you if there are interactions or side effects of using them together,” said Donna Courchesney, a family caregiver specialist at SeniorsPlus who is planning the workshop.

Laurie Winsor from Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice will discuss providing care at home and end-of-life issues. Courchesney and Pam Averill, Alzheimer’s coordinator for SeniorsPlus, will touch briefly on the services they offer. Information and brochures for other services will also be available.

There will be refreshments and door prizes.

“Come and bring a friend,” said Courchesney. “This will be an informal session in which to gain some useful information.”

They asked that people who plan to attend call Courchesney at 645-3315 or 1-800-427-1241 so that they may plan accordingly.
