WILTON – Loon Maine-ia 2003 will unveil loon sculptures painted by Maine artists to help celebrate the Wilton Bicentennial from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 24, at the Old Bass Building on Main Street.
Artists and sponsors will attend to talk about the project. Refreshments will be available by donation.
The loon sculptures will then be placed around town for June and July. A walking map will show where they are located from the Wilton Town Office to the Academy Hill School, at Wilson Lake, all the way to the Farmington and Wilton Chamber of Commerce building at the Red School House on Route 2.
This is believed to be the largest display of outdoor art in western Maine. On Aug. 2 the loon sculptures will be auctioned off after the Blueberry Festival parade.
