NEW GLOUCESTER – Four workshops are part of the June schedule at the Shaker Museum, Sabbathday Lake Shaker Village, Route 26.

June 7: “Woodworking: Hand Tools I,” led by Chris Becksvoort, noted furniture maker. Choosing and laying out of tools, saws, files and drills.

June 14: “Planning and Planting Your Herb Garden,” led by Betsey-Ann Golon, Shaker Village herb gardener. Garden design with emphasis on use and plant characteristics. Free plants.

June 21: “Chair Caning,” taught by Fran Faulkner, professional caner for 30 years. Seven-step method of chair caning. Supplies provided.

June 21: “Woodworking: Whale Tail Box,” led by Dan and Betsy Grecoe, longtime Shaker Village volunteers and woodworking partners. Make the box and apply the milk paint finish. Materials provided.
