AUBURN – While its opening is months off, the Hilton Garden Inn has already booked its first wedding reception.

More, many more, says developer Lee Griswold, are likely.

“We’re getting inquiries,” he said Wednesday. “It’s wonderful.”

Now he’s in the process of hiring the estimated 60 to 90 housekeepers, wait staff, kitchen help, maintenance workers, supervisors and others who will keep the 110-room inn spiffy, and cater to its guests.

There will also be positions available for desk and clerical help, and perhaps, he said, a concierge.

The number of employees will likely vary somewhat, depending on the season and how bookings are running, Griswold explained. And just how many of the jobs will be full-time and how many part-time still isn’t known. Some of that could depend on the experience and ability levels of those he hires early on.

He’s already hired a general manager and a sales director. They’ll do much of the employment screening, Griswold said.

Griswold said the hotel is accepting applications at his office in suite 2400 at 55 Lisbon St., Lewiston.

He noted that a mid-July “soft opening” is being planned, to be followed by a grand opening sometime in September.
