1908 – 2003

NORWAY – Della Holt Klament, 95, of Norway died Thursday, May 15, at Norway Rehabilitation and Living Center.

Born in North Waterford, Feb. 19, 1908, she was the middle of five children born to Hiram F. and Annie Sawin Holt.

In 1926 she married Stephen E. Klament, to whom she was married 58 years until his death in 1984. In the 1930’s she started working at J.J. Newberry on Main Street in Norway and retired from there after 30 years of service.

She was a member of the Stone-Smart Post 82 American Legion Auxiliary, the Universalist Church of Norway and she was a Republican. She was also a volunteer driver for the American Red Cross during World War II.

Survivors include three granddaughters, Susan Holt Townsend and her husband, Stephen R. Koch of Niskayuna, N.Y., Faith Anne Townsend of Timonium, Md., and Stephanie Sawin Townsend of Baltimore, Md.; four great-grandchildren, William Kenneth, Emma Rebeckah, Daniel Steven and Samuel Carleton Townsend Koch; and eight nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband; and their daughter, Antoinette R. Townsend.
