I am writing in response to the article “Fuel to the fire” and how poorly we were represented (May 12).

We did try to talk about it with our neighbors and they quickly became angered, as though we didn’t have a say about it.

The story does not say this fireplace is 50 yards from our front door and the photo does not reflect that! This is an invasion of our privacy. We can’t enjoy our own front yard when this is happening every weekend.

Our family has paid a hefty price since this all came about, including harassing phone calls, calls to police about my 11-year-old son and confrontations in our driveway from these supposedly “community warm people.”

So this is the standard of conduct that the city of Auburn is promoting, and it’s OK to have gatherings on city property until 1 a.m. to do whatever you please? Is the city of Auburn operating the town on a majority rule basis?

Not fair at all!

We pay taxes and we have a right to our opinion and our privacy.

If anything happens, who is paying for this?

The taxpayers of Auburn are!

You have not seen the potential harm this could create.
