PERRY (AP) – Two Perry men face multiple charges arising from an early morning mischief spree that included setting fire to hay bales and cutting down large trees that were left blocking two roads.
Judson Trott and Jason Harkins, both 24, were arrested Monday and charged with theft, criminal mischief, aggravated criminal mischief and failure to report or control a dangerous fire.
The two men allegedly set fire early Sunday morning to large hay bales, stole a picnic table, damaged a sign at the Polar Treat ice cream shop, stole a sign at the Strawberry Patch store and cut down several large trees with a chain saw. The trees were left blocking two roads and damaging power lines. Trott and Harkins were arrested following a joint investigation by Maine Forest Service rangers Maine State Police and the Washington County Sheriff’s Department.
Investigators served a warrant to search the men’s homes and collected several pieces of evidence.
Trott and Harkins are due back in court in July.
