1939 – 2003

LEWISTON – Leonard L. Palmer, 63, of 31 Robinson Hill Road, Oxford died Wednesday evening, May 21, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center following a long illness.

He was born in Anthan, Iowa, on Nov. 28, 1939, the son of Howard G. and Gladys O. (Swanson) Palmer. He was employed by the State of Washington until his health forced him to retire in 1986. He served with the U.S. Navy aboard the submarine U.S.S. Redfish. Prior to living in Oxford he resided in Washington state and California.

He is survived by his wife the former Donna L. Truitt whom he married on Nov. 3, 1961 of Oxford; three daughters, Tami Girardin and her husband Michael of Mechanic Falls, April Alanskas and her husband Timothy of Jackson, N.J., and Janise Witten and her husband Shawn of Coosada, Ala.; six grandchildren, Tina and Casey Girardin, Travis and Mikayla Alanskas, Cory Witten and Nathan Flaskegaard; three brothers and three sisters; several nieces and nephews.
