FARMINGTON – SAD 9 directors voted Tuesday to authorize the superintendent to enter into an agreement to lease-purchase seven portable classrooms. The state will reimburse the district.
The board accepted the bid of Municipal Services Group Inc. to provide SAD 9 with funds to lease-purchase the units for $335,822 plus interest at a rate not to exceed 3.27 percent, Assistant Superintendent Paul Knowles said. The portables will be paid for in five years, he said, and the state will reimburse the district for the bond.
The district has been discussing lease-purchase of the portables for a while, especially since the state changed its reimbursement process, he said.
There are four portable units at Mallett School and three at Mount Blue High School.
