BUCKFIELD – Scott Weatherell belted a two-run single in the first inning to power Buckfield to a 7-3 victory over Valley in an EWC regular season finale baseball tilt on Wednesday. Steve Abbott scattered six hits in six innings for the Bucks (14-2) and earned the win.
Tyler Gyberson led the offensive effort for the Cavaliers (6-8) with a single and one RBI, while Cole Poulin took the loss.
Jay 9, Georges Valley 0
THOMASTON – Following an earlier game at home, Jay traveled to Thomaston to pick up their second win of the day with a 9-0 shutout over Georges Valley.
Josh Armandi played a pivotal role in the Tiger’s (11-5) second contest of the day just as he had done in the first game, albeit this time as both pitcher and hitter.
Armandi smashed an RBI double in the first inning to score Ryan DiPompo, who had singled and stolen second.
The Buccaneer (6-8) bats were kept nearly silent as Armandi threw nine strike outs and gave up just one hit for his sixth win of the season.

Carrabec 2
LIVERMORE FALLS – Levi Jones smacked an RBI double in the fourth inning to lift Livermore Falls to a 5-2 win over Carrabec in MVC baseball action Wednesday. Jones also smashed a solo home run for the Andies (10-6) which tied the game at 2-2. Jones pitched a complete game and earned his seventh win of the season.
Tim Therrien led the offensive effort for the Cobras (1-15) with a double, while brother Chris Therrien was credited with the loss.
Jay 9, Madison 3
JAY – Josh Armandi plated Jacob Turner, who had reached on a walk, in the fifth inning for the eventual game-winner as Jay sailed past Madison 9-3 in MVC baseball action Wednesday.
The Tigers (10-5) jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first inning, before the Bulldogs (3-12) closed the gap with a pair of runs in the third.
Zach Charles earned his first mound win of the season.
