1923 – 2003
FARMINGTON – Viola M. Hansler, 80, of Court Street, Farmington, died early Thursday, May 29, at her home.
Born in Lewiston, Feb. 14, 1923, the daughter of Antoine and Dorothy (Coulombe) Martel, she graduated from Lewiston High School in the Class of 1941.
She married Robert Hansler May 14, 1949, in Lewiston at SS. Peter and Paul Church. She worked as a secretary for Forsters Manufacturing and Knowlton McLeary Printing for over 30 years.
She was a devoted parishioner at St. Joseph’s Church in Farmington, teaching Sunday school for 13 years and was a part-time secretary for several years. She also volunteered at W.G. Mallet for several years.
She enjoyed arts and crafts including ceramics, was an avid reader and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and playing solitaire.
Survivors include her husband of 54 years; two sisters, Pearl Forgues of Lewiston and Doris Rainville of Auburn; a brother, Roland and his wife, Lorraine Martel of Lewiston; and a sister-in-law, Theresa Martel of Lewiston.
She was predeceased by a sister, Regina Sheperd and brother, Fern Martel.
