PARIS – The theme for this year’s Project Graduation is Mexican! Seniors who recently placed their votes to choose this year’s theme will celebrate in style on Saturday, June 14, at an all-night chemical free party to be held at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School.

Members of the Project Graduation Committee have been hard at work organizing fund-raisers and making plans for this big night. Annual events such as The Price is Right in the fall and chinese auction in the spring, have contributed toward the $10,000 that organizers budget to put on this great event.

Upon arriving at Project Graduation, graduates will be treated to a barbeque hosted by the Norway Paris Kiwanis Club. Once inside, all will enjoy arcade games, music, a magician and hypnotist, food, a casino, open gym activities, a goodie bag filled with mementos of their days at OHCHS and more. All for free!

The halls of the school will be decorated in the chosen Mexican theme and community members will donate their time to serve as chaperones. Also, the Oxford Hills Rotary Club will serve breakfast to all graduates before departing the school on Sunday morning.

“This is an event that receives tremendous community support and we’re keeping the tradition alive,” said Penny Latham, committee chairwoman.

“We’d like to thank the many individuals, businesses and nonprofits who step up each year and contribute. It’s wonderful! The youth of this community are so important and in these tough economic times it is great to see the community get behind this event.”

The idea of a community-sponsored all night graduation party is one that began 24 years ago in Oxford Hills. Organizers over the years have worked hard to keep the tradition alive and invite the public to show support for this year’s event.

Organizers recently launched the Sponsor a Graduate promotion where community members may chose to make a donation of $20 that will help support the celebration. If anyone is interested in donating, send a Sponsor a Graduate donation to: Project Graduation, 27 Paris St., Norway, ME 04268.

Volunteers are also needed to donate food, help with decorations and chaperone. If interested, call Rhonda Maher at 743-7293 to find out more.
