GREENE – Defending champ Monmouth opened its Apple Valley Babe Ruth League season Sunday by sweeping a twin bill from Greene. Scott Ogden and winning hurler Ben Seefeldt both collected 3 hits and combined for 6 RBI as Monmouth took the opener 23-2. Shane Kibler cracked a pair of doubles. Chris Brewer and Scott Redmond knocked in the Greene runs with singles. . . In the nightcap, Kibler drilled 2 doubles and a single to power Monmouth to an 11-7 win. He knocked in 3 runs. Ogden added a double and single and earned the mound win. Seefeldt was also a repeat hitter. Ryan Brunette and Brewer each ripped 2 hits for Greene.

LEWISTON – Joey Klemanski tripled and singled to power Gendron Mobile to a 20-2 win over Dube Gravel in the Major Division. Conroy LeBlond was also a repeat hitter. Winning hurler Ryan Moore fanned 4. Erik Tiner went 2-2 with an RBI for Dube. Brandon Tiner also had a hit.
