1933 – 2003

FARMINGTON – Jean S. Johnson, 70, of Weld, died early Monday morning, June 2, at Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington.

She was born Jan. 17, 1933 in Portland, a daughter of Norman and Helen Harris Sanborn. She attended Weld schools, graduating from Weld High School in 1950.

On June 22, 1951, she married Carl Johnson Sr. in Wilton. They made their home in Wilton until 1967 when they moved to Weld.

Mrs. Johnson worked at Farmington Shoe in the payroll dept. for more than 20 years. She later went to work for G.H. Bass in Wilton.

She enjoyed various crafts including quilting, sewing, crocheting, geneology, reading, and playing cards. She belonged to local quilting and sewing clubs as well as the Maine Quilters Guild.

She is survived by three sons, Carl “Skip” Johnson Jr. and his wife Rose of East Livermore, and Daniel and Christopher Johnson, both of Weld; a daughter, Susan Storer and her husband Scott of Weld; a brother, William H. Sanborn of California; a sister, Norma Clemens of Weld; two granddaughters, Angie Storer and her fiance Nathan Chick of Wilton, and Krista Storer of Weld.

She was predeceased by her husband on Aug. 27, 1990; and a son, Bruce in 1981.
