AUBURN – Advocates for Children will offer several programs in June. All programs are free, although some do require registration.

The following programs are announced:

Thursday, June 12, at 10 a.m., “Healthy Parents, Healthy Kids.”

Tuesday, June 17, Family Fun Day – a trip to the Maine Wildlife Park in Gray. Transportation is limited; register as soon as possible.

Monday, June 16, from 6 to 7:30 p.m., “Parenting 101: Good Discipline, Good Kids.” At some point, every parent struggles with how to successfully discipline a child.

Participants will learn skills that encourage children’s cooperation, respect and good behavior. Registration is required. The class will be held at the Family Development Center.

Monday, June 23, from 6 to 7:30 p.m., “Parenting 201: Keeping Peace at Home.” Parents can learn concrete, practical skills and strategies that ease tensions, prevent family fights and peaceably resolve conflict. Registration is required.

The class will be held at the Family Development Center.

Wednesday, June 25, Picnic in the Park. Join for sandwiches, juice and fun. Registration is required.

“Parenting Wisely” is a self-administered, computer-based program that teaches parents and their 9- to 18-year-old children the skills for combating risk factors. Parents work individually and at their own pace while interacting with a CD-Rom program. Contact Kim Sprague at 783-3990 to schedule an appointment.
