SOUTH PORTLAND (AP) – Human remains found more than two months ago at a makeshift campsite in the woods were those of two transients, police said Tuesday.

The two were identified as Gregory Woods, 39, and Michael Robichaud, 46, and the manner and cause of death remained undetermined, police said.

A resident walking his dog found the bones on March 21 near what appeared to be a campsite that was destroyed by fire in woods a quarter-mile from Highland Avenue. Found at the site was a mattress, a kerosene heater and what may have been tarps.

Police said at the time that there was no sign of foul play and that the deaths occurred weeks, if not months, earlier.
