Swim lessons
OTISFIELD – The town will offer swimming lessons during July at Pleasant Lake Beach. Preregistration will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. Friday, June, 6, at the town office. This three-week Red Cross program is for all ages. The classes will be held from 8 to 10 a.m. weekdays beginning Monday, June 30 through July 2 and again from July 7-22. Cost is $5 per child. Jazzettes show
WEST PARIS – The Jaci’s Jazzettes will perform at Old Home Days at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, June 7. This is the Jazzette’s first year of performance. Also performing will be the Pre-Divas and Little Dudes dancers.
Lighting course
PARIS – A course in theater lighting will be offered from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, June 9 and 10, at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School. The hands-on sessions will cover the systems used in the OHCHS auditorium and forum. Those successfully completing the course will have their names entered on the approved lighting technician list at the school and will qualify for operating the equipment at future events and performances. Supper and dance
LOCKE MILLS – The Jackson-Silver Post American Legion Auxiliary will hold a supper and dance beginning with the meal at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 10. Dancing will follow. The Parisians will provide the music. Door prizes will be drawn. Cost is $6 for ages 12 and up, $3 for ages under 12.
Walk-athon set
FRYEBURG – Harvest Hills Animal Shelter will hold a Gone-to-the-Dogs Walk-a-Thon from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 14, rain or shine. Pledges raise money for the shelter. Trophies and prizes will be awarded to individuals and businesses with the highest dollar amount in pledges. The event will include dog demonstrations, “parlor” games with prizes for the dogs, and dog/owner look-alike contest. There will be crafts, vendor booths and a feline photo contest.

Pledge sheets are also available at the Greater Bridgton Lakes Region Chamber of Commerce Information Center. Anyone raising more than $25 or more will be given a special T-shirt. All walkers receive a gift bag with goodies.
The individual with the largest amount of pledges will be able to display a special trophy for one year.
Sculpture Race
BETHEL – A Sculpture Race to celebrate art and science will be held at noon Saturday, June 21, at the Bethel Commons.
Sculptures must be human powered, no motors, batteries, solar cells, windmills, sails, or other means of propulsion. Sculptures must move by rolling, walking or running; must incorporate wheels, legs, or other means of movement, but no floats, bicycles, wagons, or pre-manufactured wheels, etc.
The sculptures must be created and raced by individuals or teams. Use of recycled materials and found objects is encouraged. The sculpture must be newly created, must not contain advertising and under 13 feet, 6 inches high. The width limit is 8 feet, six inches. Racers are advised to watch for power lines.
The race course will be around Bethel Commons, and sculptures must be on the common and ready to race by 11 a.m. Entry fee is $10 payable to Midsummer Festival, postmarked by Tuesday, June 10.

NORWAY – The Western Maine Art Group Co-operative Gallery has announced new hours for the Matolcsy Art Center, 480 Main St. Regular hours will be from Wednesday through Sunday, 11 a.m. To 4 p.m.
