LIVERMORE – Voters will consider 58 articles during their annual town meeting this year. Elections will take place from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 10. The annual town meeting will then reconvene at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 12, at the Brettuns Community Building.

Incumbent Grace Jacques is running unopposed for a three year term on the board of selectmen. Incumbent Wayne Timberlake is also running unopposed for a 2-year term on that board.

Cindy Young is running unopposed for a 3-year seat on the SAD 36 school board. Ashley O’Brien and Rodney Newman are also both running unopposed for 2-year School Board positions.

The municipal budget shows a $6,639 increase over last year. The county tax, and SAD 36 budgets show a decrease from last year. Administrative Assistant and Town Treasurer Kurt Schaub said the budget was put together with the goal of no increase in the tax rate this year.

Voters will be asked to approve funding to purchase a new plow truck for the highway department. While the truck is expected to cost a total of $91,330, voters will be asked to authorize selectmen to use $10,000 from the Capital Reserve account established last year and another $25,000 from the town’s undesignated fund balance to make the purchase.

Voters will also be asked to authorize the treasurer and chairman of the Board of Selectmen to borrow the remaining $56,330. At an estimated interest rate of 5 percent on a 5-year loan, the total debt service would be $65,263.13.

Voters will also be asked to enact an ordinance for a legally constituted Board of Appeals and to accept a conditional gift from the estate of Minerva Luciano in the amount of $10,000. That gift will be used to promote and fund youth sports and recreational programs and activities at the discretion of selectmen.
