NEW GLOUCESTER – There are two candidates for election to two local seats on the SAD 15 board of Directors. Residents will go to the polls Tuesday, June 10.

Announced candidate: David Sutherland

Age: 40

Occupation: boat builder

Community activities: Volunteer, Memorial School, New Gloucester; coach of New Gloucester Little League

Family: Married with four children who attend local schools

Personal statement: “I want to make sure the children in New Gloucester get a quality education that we can afford. I want to see a long-term vision for schools.”

Write-in candidate: James Hutchinson

Age: 38

Occupation: Owns Jim’s Metal Fabrication and JFH Trucking

Community activities: SAD 15 director, Facility and Finance committees for SAD 15

Family: Father of two school age children

Personal statement: “I’m running again to keep the checks and balances between teaching and learning weighed against the needs of taxpayers.”
