OSSIPEE, N.H. (AP) – After another day of searching Saturday, Fish and Game divers failed to find a fisherman who is presumed drowned.

Two fishermen saw Winfield Scott Sanborn, 38, of the Sanbornville section of Wakefield, fishing from a canoe Friday morning.

The two witnesses left the lake for about 20 minutes. When they returned, Sanborn’s canoe was empty and fishing poles and a life vest still were inside.

The canoe was spotted about 300 yards from shore in waters about 40 feet deep.

Lt. Robert Bryant of Fish and Game said divers and a State Police helicopter searched the lake Saturday without success. He said they planned to resume the search Sunday.
