Rumford must vote “no” on big money projects at the June town meeting.

Town fathers and mothers think we are wearing blinders, like farmers used on stallions on delivery wagons in days of old.

Are people who have lost their jobs going to vote “yes” for this spending spree?

Let’s review these projects.

Number One: I think our town manager should retire. The board had to hire a grant writer for him and I think he should do that himself.

Number two: I respect the fire chief but he came here from the city. This is a one-horse town with a great, large fire engine attached to its umbilical cord. Who needs a 10- or 12-foot-wide engine in this town? And we don’t need a $2.5 million barn to put it in.

Number three: I like the library. Bulldoze the two boulders into the river and expand the present library and save $1.5 million! Better still, sell the boulders to New Hampshire. It needs them.

We must think of the 200 people who lost their jobs at the mill and other people who could! Think of the people who could lose their jobs at the hospital if it closes under the governor’s plan!

Number four: Here’s the kicker! The ads on TV and radio about the casino offering jobs and more money. I haven’t seen too many rich gamblers in my lifetime. They all die broke. I’m in favor of jobs, but not under these conditions.
