LEWISTON – As part of National Homeownership Month, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) will present information on minority homeownership at a forum set for 6 p.m. June 11 at the Maine Rural Workers Coalition Office, 145 Lisbon St., Lewiston.

This free educational event will present information on where and how to begin the home buying process, and will include presentations by HUD’s Bangor Field Office, Maine State Housing Authority, HUD’s Office of Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity, Pine Tree Legal Assistance, USDA Rural Development, Coastal Enterprises Inc. and the Maine Rural Workers Coalition. Some of the presentations will be presented in Spanish and bilingual materials will be available.

While nearly 70 percent of all Americans own their own homes, less than half of African-Americans and Hispanic families are homeowners.

This event is open to the public. For further information, call HUD’s Bangor Field Office at (207) 945-0468.
