MINOT – Selectmen Monday night learned that Planning Board Chairman John Geismar is concerned about a sound study that appears to show that Hemond’s MotoCross track was in compliance with noise levels set in the town’s ordinance.

Code Enforcement Officer Ken Pratt told the board that Geismar had sent him an e-mail Monday afternoon asking him to notify Donald and Serae Hemond that he had questions about the report on the sound study conducted by Thomas Loveitt of Canfield Systems.

Pratt noted that last week the Planning Board appeared to be generally satisfied with the report.

At the time, however, Geismar expressed regret that the sound study had been taken during a practice session.

Selectman Susan Geismar explained that John Geismar had given a copy of the report to Steve Andross, who did noise consultations when the Morse Bros. Co. mulching plant went in on Hardscrabble Road, seeking his opinion on the report.

“He found some things lacking in the report. There are not enough details,” said Susan Geismar. She said that among the details missing were the number of motor bikes on the track at the time of testing as well as their engine sizes and whether they had modified mufflers.

Serae Hemond had told the Planning Board that while the study was conducted during a practice session, they were running the same number of bikes that enter competitive races and that they were the largest class of bikes.

Pratt said he would notify the Hemonds of Geismar’s request for more details about the testing.

In other Code Enforcement action, Pratt was told to proceed as necessary to take care of problems at the Bryer property in West Minot.

In his report, Road Manager Arlan Saunders told the Board that Blue Rock Industries had asked to move up the summer paving program.

As a result, Saunders said, he will begin pavement reclaiming on Pottle Hill, Marston Hill and Millett roads later this week.

Saunders also noted that the stop sign and street sign at Jackass Annie and Mountain roads had been removed over the weekend but later found in a ditch and put back up earlier Monday. Saunders also thanked the Androscoggin Sheriff’s Department for retrieving a Death Valley sign that had been previously stolen.
