1915 – 2003

AUBURN – Thelma Arene Chew, died Wednesday, June 11, in the arms of God at Clover Manor.

She was born Thelma Brawdy, July 7, 1915, to Mary Elizabeth Brawdy and Frank James Brawdy in Muskogee, Okla.

Her proudest accomplishment in life, her children, Darlene Allen, long-time resident of Lewiston, now living in Minot, Thomas Chew, a resident of Columbus, Ga., Jacquelyn Rearden, living in Seattle, Wash., and Lora Stevens raised in Maine.

She married her childhood friend and the boy next door, James Chew in Seminole, Okla. on Sept. 3, 1940 and were married 40 years until Jim’s death in February of 1981.

Widowed 22 years, she led a full life in the service of her church and with the love of family and friends. She was a long-time member of the Thomas Memorial Baptist Church in Lewiston. We were all blessed for having spent time with her.

She leaves a legacy of love and faith to her nine grandchildren, Nacy Allen Wortley, Michael Wayne Allen, Megan Allen Bates, Phoebe Chew England, Timothy Chew, Daniel Rearden, Kimber Leanne Rearden Towle, Gordon Stevens III and Jenna Stevens. She was also blessed with seven grandchildren, Robert Wortley, Joshua Allen, Travis Allen, Gage Allen, Chad Bates, Courtney England and Trevor England.
