1916 – 2003

SCARBOROUGH – Joseph F. MacAllister, 86, of Longmeadow Road, died June 14, 2003, at Springbrook Center for Health Care in Westbrook following a brief illness. He was born on Dec. 13, 1916, in Weymouth, Mass., a son of George and Mary Bates Nightingale MacAllister.

He enjoyed spending time with his family and especially enjoyed following the activities of his grandchildren.

He is survived by six Daughters: Susan Turner of Ninevah, Ind., Betty O’Connor of Pembroke, Mass., Bonnie Lauze of Farmington, N.H., Darlene Munroe of Goffstown, N.H., Jackie Zeits of Lake Leelanau, Mich., and Heidi MacAllister-McDonald of Scarborough; a son, George MacAllister of Plymouth, Mass.; a sister, Pearl MacAllister of Weymouth, Mass.; a brother, Robert MacAllister of Quincy, Mass. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

He was pre-deceased by his wife of 46 years, Mary Arlene Parmenter MacAllister, in 1988.

Joseph MacAllister wasn’t rich or famous, but he was a great man nevertheless, and if you have lived in Scarborough long, then you have probably passed him on the street, you will not pass him again.
