1933 – 2003
RUMFORD – Claudette “Mimi” LaPointe, 70, of 669 Somerset St., died Tuesday, June 17, at the Rumford Community Hospital with her loving family by her side.
She was born in Rumford on March 18, 1933, to Mathias and Genevive Morin. She was a resident of Rumford her entire life. She was employed at the Motor Vehicle Registration in Mexico. She was a communicant of St. Athanasius St. John Church and was a member of the choir.
She graduated from Stephens High School in the Class of 1951. She so enjoyed her family and was especially proud of all her grandchildren. She loved attending her family’s ballgames and all of the events her family was involved in.
She loved shopping, long walks, gardening, helping others by volunteering. She was a member of the Stephens High School memorial committee and a volunteer driver. She married John B. LaPointe Jr. on May 8, 1954.
Survivors include her husband of Rumford; three sons, Timothy and his wife Peggy, Stephen and his wife Jeanne all of Rumford and Daniel and his wife Laurie of Mexico; four daughters, Linda and her husband James Burns of Rumford, Jennifer and her husband Davis Warriner of Auburn, Valerie and her husband Craig Glueck of Winslow and Nicole Lane, a student at USM; 11 grandchildren, Jonathan, Michelle, Tristan, Chloe, Natalie and Hanna LaPointe, Kassie and Linnea Burns, Tiana and Samuel Warriner and Molly Glueck. She will be sadly missed by her best life long friend, Rita Thorne.
She was a special mother and grandmother and will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
She was predeceased by a brother, Louis Morin.
