DIXFIELD – Police summoned another person this week in connection with a June 7 keg party bust at an East Dixfield residence on Rollins Ridge Road.
Aaron Ryder, 23, of Dixfield was summoned on a charge of furnishing liquor for the party, which attracted a crowd of about 100 people, many of them Dirigo High School students, said investigating officer Mark Dow.
Others summoned include property owner Joshua Krell, 46, and tenant Timothy Legere, 23, on charges of allowing minors to possess and/or consume liquor; and Dana Kenney, 18, of Carthage, on a charge of possession of liquor by a minor. A 16-year-old boy was also arrested on a charge of possession of liquor by a juvenile. Dow said Monday afternoon that he expects to summon another individual for furnishing liquor just as soon as he is located.
Busting up the keg party began just prior to midnight June 7 when police received a complaint of minors drinking alcohol in the road. Responders included Dow, a Jay officer and two Wilton officers.
“It was a huge party with a lot of minors,” Dow said Monday. “There were more than 40 Dirigo High School graduates there and underclassmen. I’d estimate the crowd size at between 70 and 80 people. Between 35 and 40 were still there when I left.”
When police arrived at the Severy Hill residence, some party goers scattered into the woods, but not everyone was drinking alcohol, Dow stressed.
He confiscated three full-size beer kegs, which contained about 15 gallons each, a quart of Southern Comfort and numerous assorted cans and bottles containing alcoholic beverages as a direct result of the investigation. Two of the kegs were empty by the time police arrived.
Aside from the one 16-year-old who was arrested, Dow said he issued summonses rather than arrest people “because of the magnitude of the party, because no one was being disorderly and because the people who stuck around were relatively cooperative.”
In other Dixfield police news, reward money has been posted for information leading to the arrests and conviction of those involved in the April 20 and 28 vandalism incidents at the Irving Forest Products’ mill yard that caused more than $1,200 damage. Chief Richard A. Pickett is investigating a broken window complaint at Dirigo High School that occurred Thursday.
“Investigation shows that someone who also stole some property from Ellis’ Variety broke the window. Anyone having information regarding unusual activity in that area during the night of June 11 is encouraged to contact the Police Department,” Dow said.
On June 9, upon being called to a reported disturbance at 165 Weld St. at 1:30 a.m., Dow summoned Dominque Burnell, 23, of Dixfield, for operating under the influence, second offense, and for operating beyond license conditions and/or restrictions.
An investigation continues into the burglary of Route 2 Variety Store in East Dixfield, which was reported June 4.
