NEW VINEYARD – An open house will be held at Log Home Gardens from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, June 20 and 21, and from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, June 22. The gardens are located at 624 Barker Road, 2.5 miles off Route 27 north.

This is the second annual open house for the public to showcase the Tall Bearded and Siberian irises. A limited number of perennials will be available for sale.

Those attending may sign up for a garden newsletter and talk with the owner about irises.

Church events

JAY – Bean’s Corner Baptist Church will hold two special events Sunday, June 22. Celebrate Life Sunday will be featured during the morning service starting at 10:30 a.m.

Members of In the Shepherd’s Hands will make a presentation on their work in Franklin County and will treat the congregation to a barbecue lunch after the service.

In the Shepherd’s Hands offers a variety of support services in the areas of crisis pregnancy intervention, parenting classes, referrals to adoption agencies and pregnancy testings.

The Hyssongs, a gospel music-singing family, will present a concert at the 6 p.m. service. Made up of the Rev. Dell and Susan Hyssong and their son Richard, the Hyssongs give numerous live concerts and have several recordings.

There is no admission charge but a freewill offering will be taken. The public is welcome to both services.

Bow safety

WILTON – A bow hunting safety training program will be offered from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, June 21 and 22, at the Wilton Fish and Game Club on Route 2.

Students ages 10 to 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian during the full program that is sponsored by the Wilton Fish and Game Club.
