BETHEL – Town Clerk Christen Mason announced that a recount of ballots Wednesday showed no change in last week’s 314-314 tally to improve and expand the ambulance station.

“The question fails,” Mason said of the tie vote. She said it took 90 minutes to hand count the ballots from the June 10 warrant article. Selectmen supervised her work at the town office.

The question put before voters asked to borrow $150,000 to enlarge and equip the Bethel Rescue ambulance station. The day after the vote Bethel Rescue Director Arlene Greenleaf requested a recount; she filed a petition June 13.
