LEWISTON – The Lewiston Public Library is looking for a few good readers to read the fifth Harry Potter book aloud in the Children’s Room. Volunteers can reserve a 15-minute block between 2 and 4 p.m. weekdays beginning Monday, June 23.
The Children’s Room has ordered 20 copies of the book, but had 41 people on the waiting list two weeks before the publication date, and the waiting list is expected to grow much faster when the book is released on Saturday, June 21. Children who don’t want to wait to get started will be able to come to the library and listen to the book.
Each weekday before reading, a brief synopsis of the action so far will be read. Then volunteers will pick the book up where it left off the day before. Reading two hours each day, librarians expect to take three weeks to finish “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.”
The library is looking for adults and teenagers who can read with pleasure and serve as role models for children.
