1919 – 2003
LEWISTON – Our mother, Florence Elizabeth (Levasseur) Danforth left this world to go to a better place on Friday, June 20, with her family at her side. She had been a resident of Marshwood Center for Health Care since last September.
She had been a resident of Auburn for a great deal of her lifetime, since moving here from Louisville, Ky., in 1948. In 1994, she moved to Alma Drive in Lisbon. She was a former member of Holy Trinity Parish in Lisbon Falls.
She was born in Clarkson, Ky., on July 28, 1919, the daughter of Asa and Nova (Haynes) Pearl. She married the late Joseph A. Levasseur in Louisville on Sept. 23, 1946. She later married the late Ralph A. Danforth in Auburn in February 1971.
She was employed for a number of years at Sableman Plastic Heel Co. in Lewiston. Prior to her failing health, she was an avid beano player and a lifelong member and promoter of The Miraculous Medal Association. She cherished her longtime companions, her two cats, Coco and Little Bit. They brought her immeasurable joy and happiness. She enjoyed her vast collection of religious statues, her dolls that she attained as much joy in giving as receiving. Spending time with family and friends, dining out, shopping (especially her shopping trips to Portland and New Hampshire), gardening, feeding the many birds and other animals that frequented her yard, she enjoyed doing word search puzzles, flea markets and garage/yard sales.
She is survived by her eight children: two daughters, Patt Bergeron of Lisbon, Sandra Levasseur of Lewiston; her six sons, Richard Levasseur and wife Cecelia; Ronald Levasseur and wife Martha; Daniel Levasseur; Randall Levasseur and wife Valerie, all of Auburn; Joseph Levasseur Jr. and wife Priscilla of Lewiston; and Mark Levasseur of Naples, Fla. Thirteen grandchildren: Mrs. Grover (Kim) Cleveland Taylor III of Green Cove Springs, Fla.; Kendra, Shaunte, Benjamin, Joe and Patrick Levasseur, all of Auburn; Bianca Belcher, Lucas Goss and Keith Greaton, Katie and Kayla Levasseur, all of Lewiston; Jason and Jesse Levasseur of Naples, Fla. Six great-grandchildren: Jordan, Lauren and Jacob Taylor of Green Cove Springs, Fla.; Dezirae and Olivia Levasseur of Naples, Fla.; and Sarah Greaton of Lewiston. Also one sister, Mrs. Joseph (Bernice) Hurst of Louisville, Ky.; three brothers, Jim (Jean) Pearl of Louisville, Ky.; Raymond (Sandra) Pearl of Leitchfield, Ky.; Charles (Daisy) Pearl of Herndon, Ky. and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her two husbands, her parents, three sisters, Ruby VerHagen and Marjorie Pearl of Louisville, Ky., and Gladys Pearl of Clarkson, Ky., and a brother Doyle Pearl of San Diego, Calif.
