NORWAY – The Norway Downtown Revitalization project is taking shape.

As part of the project designed by Debbie Wyman, 12 benches made of stone are being set on Main Street by DeShon’s Masonry of South Paris. The project is through the Maine Department of Transportation Gateway Enhancement that awarded $20,000 in grant money to the Norway project.

Said Wyman, “I applied for a $10,000 grant, but the department really liked the Main Street idea so they gave us $20,000 instead.”

A bench will be placed at several Main Street businesses. Three of them, donated by Selectmen Bill Damon, will be placed at Witherall Park. Other additions to the Main Street project will include new trash cans and a bike rack. To help keep Main Street beautiful, Doggie Poop Scoop bags will be available, purchased by the Norway Recreational Center. A new Kiosk Informational Center also has been constructed.

The Main Street Revitalization project is expected to be completed within the next few weeks according to Wyman.
