JAY – The Jay Middle School and High School Music Department presented its Spring Choral Program on May 29 in the middle school cafeteria. The concert, under the direction of Sherry A. Gilbert, began with the “Star-Spangled Banner” sung a cappella by Cashmeira Robinson, Tanya Dorr, Caria Ard. Kimberly Smith and Marie Vicelich.

The High School Chorus then took stage center singing “That’s Entertainment,” “Chumbara” and “Sing A Song of Peace.” A vocal solo was presented by Bianca Bourgault.

Next the Middle School Seven/Eight Chorus took to the risers and performed “Down By the Riverside” and “Over the Rainbow.” Two soloists, Lauri Tardif and Tanya Redmond, also were part of the latter number. A duet by Robinson and Dorr, titled “Can’t Give Up Now,” was followed by “Angel” sung by Lauri Tardif and Kyle Packard.

The Middle School Five/Six Chorus performed “Ding Dong the Witch Is Dead” and “This Train.” Isaiah Reed performed a solo and a duet was sung by Danielle Walsh and Jessica Lopez.

The High School Chorus again entertained all with “America, the Beautiful,” “We Shall Overcome” and “Climb Every Mountain.” The final ensemble numbers were presented by Kyle Packard and Robinson and Tanya Dorr.

The three choruses performed “Flying Free.”

Special guest soloist Kimberly Brochu Wick, a 1983 graduate of Jay High School, took the microphone to perform one of her own compositions, “Song for America.”

Wick’s love for music began at home and was fostered when she entered kindergarten at Jay Elementary School and had her music classes with Gilbert. Wick joined the elementary chorus in grade five and continued in the choral program under through high school. During her years of training she received several awards and as a senior she was one of five students chosen to represent the Jay School System in the Kennebec Valley Music Festival.

More recently Wick has pursued her musical career in Virginia Beach, Va.

Five/Six Chorus: Beth Bibeau, Kyle Burnell, Eliza Gemelii, Alexii Smith, Hailey Folsom, Nicole Woodcock, Bianca Bourgault, Susan Cote, Amanda Bonnevie, Kassidi Farrington, Matthew Lancaster, Hollie Theriault, Dustin Wiggins, Samantha Cook, Jennifer Calden, Latoya Wright, Logan Dunham, Joseph Roy, Megan Wolf, Chelsea Fortier, Isaiah Reed, Jessica Loper, Eric Chenard, Danielle Walsh.
