1928 – 2003
RUMFORD – Joseph F. Clinton Jr., 75, of Canton, died June 18, at the Rumford Community Hospital.
He was born in Gardiner, June 22, 1928, the son of Joseph and Margaret Lashow Clinton Sr.
He grew up in Belmont, Mass., and graduated from the Belmont High School. He attended college in Vallejo, Calif.
He married Helen Rose on Sept. 22, 1956 in Lewiston.
He enjoyed fishing, gardening, traveling and golf. He achieved a hole in one. He served in the Navy during World War II and in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked as an electrical design engineer all over the country. He retired from United Technologies in Connecticut in 1990. He then returned to Maine.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Rose Clinton of Canton; and a sister, Elaine Coffidis of Falmouth, Mass.
He was predeceased by a brother, John Clinton.
