LISBON – The Coombs Mountfort American Legion Post and Unit 158 will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 24. There will be no meetings in July and August. There will be reports on what took place at the convention held over the weekend.
Strawberry fest
MECHANIC FALLS – Tyrian Lodge No. 73, AF and AM, 474 South Main St., will have its annual Strawberry Festival on Thursday, June 26th. There will be a 6:30 p.m. buffet supper followed by a program at 7:30. This is an informal semi-public event and all Masons, OES, Rainbow and DeMolay members and their guests are welcome.
Church supper
WAYNE – A public church supper will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, June 28, at the North Wayne Church. The menu will consist of home-cooked meat casseroles, vegetable casseroles, baked beans, salads, hot yeast rolls, homemade pies and beverages. Cost for adults is $6 and children, $3.
Officers installed
AUBURN — First Auburn Seniors will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 2, at Hasty Community Center. The board of directors will meet at 10. Payment of $40 will be due for the Monday, Aug. 4, Fairpoint trip. The monthly raffle will take place and tickets for the July 16 chicken barbecue can be purchased.
On June 18 there were 75 members present. Attendance prizes were won by Libby Pugsley and Charlotte Witten. Pot-of-gold winners were Erma Gagnon, Crystal Briggs and M.E. Allen. Jan Biron from the Auburn Recreation Department announced trips to Strawberry Banke, Portsmouth, N.H., and Ogunquit Playhouse to see “Ain’t Misbehaving.” If interested, call Auburn Parks and Recreation. Joyce Poole also announced trips to Waterville Valley, N.H., Fairpoint and the Balsams at Dixville Notch, N.H.
New officers were installed by Lucy Cowles. They are: president, Betty Hebert; vice president, Nancy Roy; recording secretary, Crystal Briggs; corresponding secretary, Lucy Cowles; treasurer, Gerry Brushwein; membership chairwoman, Pat Edwards; and chaplain, M.E. Allen.
The Board of Directors includes Roger Briggs, chairman; Kay DeBurra, Beverly Lashua, Buzz Edwards, Dick Brushwein and George Brainerd. Nancy Roy presented the outgoing president, Roger Briggs, a gift of appreciation from the club.
