1926 – 2003
LEWISTON – Maurice “Moe” Frechette, 76, a resident of Forest Circle, Jay, died Monday, June 23, at CMMC following a short illness.
He was born in Jay on Nov. 29, 1926, the son of Leon and Alpha Bibeau Frechette and attended the Jay schools. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1944 to 1946.
On July 4, 1959 he married Gennie Benedetto of Melrose, Mass. She passed away in 1991. “Moe” worked as a well driller in Bath and also as a cutter in the area shoe shops. He has owned two race dog kennels in Massachusetts and Miami, Fla., since 1979.
On June 13, 2001, he married Madelyn Sampson of Glens Falls, N.Y., in Carson City, Nev. They made their home on Forest Circle in Jay.
He was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay and a member of the VFW, Frank Mitchell, Post 3335 of Jay and the Lane-Dube AmVets, Post 33 of Jay. He enjoyed spending time at his camp across the river, hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife of Jay; a daughter and her husband, Maura and Richard Sullivan of Melrose, Mass.; a brother, Napoleon “Mimi” Frechette of Jay; three sisters, Rita Dupill of Conn., Yvette Sonier of Jay and Louise Lennox of Georgia; many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Carrie Ann in 1964; and five brothers, Raymond, Noel, Gerard, Roger and John Frechette.
