1920 – 2003
LEWISTON – Roland L. Levasseur, 82, a resident of Sargent Street, Sabattus died peacefully Monday morning, June 23, at Central Maine Medical Center with his loving family at his side following a short illness.
He was born in Ft. Fairfield Oct. 14, 1920, the son of Marie Chasse. Educated in Ft. Fairfield schools, he served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.
On April 22, 1946 he married the former Ruth Poulin who passed away Aug. 16, 2001. He was employed as a foreman in the lasting room at the former Knapp Shoe Co. in Lewiston retiring in 1985.
He was a member of Our Lady of The Rosary Church in Sabattus. An avid outdoorsman he enjoyed fishing and snowmobiling.
He leaves two daughters, Barbara Johnson and her husband William of Sabattus, Jacqueline Clark and her fiance John Dubail of Yarmouth; two sons, Paul Levasseur and his wife Maryann of Reno, Nev.,, and Norman Levasseur and his wife Angela of Westbrook; his precious litttle granddaughter, Jessica Lynn Levasseur; grandsons, Lucien Paradis, Michael Paradis, Chad Levasseur, Paul Levasseur, Norman Levasseur and Paul Poulin; great-grandchildren, Branden Paradis, Vincent Hewett, Nicholas Paradis, Patrick and Travis Poulin.
He was predeceased by his sister, Ruth Thompson.
