Scott Reed to address coalition

RUMFORD – The next planning meeting of the River Valley Healthy Communities Coalition will be at 4 p.m. Thursday, June 26. It will be in the River Valley Business Resource Center, 34 River St. Scott Reed, environmental manager at MeadWestvaco, will speak about current programs at the mill.

Other agenda items include updates of current programs such as Project NOW, One ME, the River Valley Arts Initiative, walking trails, community health assessment and grant opportunities. For more information, people can call 364-7408.

Quilters to host 15th annual show

BETHEL – The 15th annual quilt show presented by the Cross Country Quilters will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday, June 27 and 28.

The theme is It’s A Blooming Garden of Quilts. This old-fashioned country quilt show at the 1816 Middle Intervale Meeting House will feature antique quilts as well as new ones by area quilters.

The show will also have handmade items for sale, refreshments and a Dahlia quilt in ’30s type fabrics, which will be raffled on the second day of the show.

There will be a donation of $4; children under 12 are admitted free.

All proceeds will be used for the ongoing preservation of the Middle Intervale Meeting House.
