ANDOVER – More than 125 alumni and friends from Andover High School and Telstar Regional High School gathered recently for the alumni banquet. The roast pork was prepared by Sharon B. Farrington and her crew.

Beverly A. Swan and Trudy L. Akers presided at a punch bowl during a social hour preceding the banquet.

Alumni President Dorothy M. Roberts and Treasurer Ronald White greeted guests.

Telstar Regional High School seniors from Andover, Douglas Bailey, James Farrington, Samantha Ladd, Jenna Poor and Katherine Swasey, were special guests. Two did not attend.

The Rev. Jane Rich greeted the group and read a list of deceased alumni who had passed away since June 2002. Vice President Violet Swan toasted the seniors.

Roberts presented the Andover Alumni $50 awards to students with highest rank in math to Cynthia Farrington, Frank Emerson, Lindsey Farrington and Douglas Bailey.

Andover Friday Club Award of $50 went to Blake Conrad, Clayton Smith, Ashley Stambolis and Samantha Ladd.

East Andover Community Club Award, $50, to Douglas Bailey. He also received the Lila Farrington Memorial $50 Award for being fourth in his class.

The Allyson Hodsdon Memorial Award of $25 went to Lindsey Farrington.

The Remington Award of $100 for second highest ranking student went to Katherine Swasey.

The Michael Marston Memorial Book Award for outstanding Region 9 student in metal trades went to James Farrington.

The Walter Fox Book Awards went to Lindsey Milligan, Rebecca Wilson, Joseline Belanger, Kayla Mills, Clayton Smith, Lindsey Farrington and Douglas Bailey.

The Andover Service Circle Award of $300 was presented to Katherine Swasey.

The Anna Thurston Memorial Scholarship of $1,000 went to Katherine Swasey.

The John and Eunice Fox Scholarship of $2,000 was presented to James Farrington.

Presenters were Dorothy Roberts, Violet Swain, the Rev. Jane Rich, Daniel Remington, Belinda Poor and Penny Poor.

Floral centerpieces were furnished by Bette Britt and Violet Swain. Two senior members were a part of four generations, Douglas Bailey and James Farrington. Three generations groups were Jenna Poor and Samantha Ladd.

Otis Morton was the Alumni of the Year.

Coming the longest distance was Paula White Barber, class of 1976, from Boise, Idaho, for her nephew’s graduation. The oldest alumni present were Wendell Sweat, Farmington, and Edna Spares White, East Andover, class of 1930.

Honored was the 50-year class, 1953. Frances Dresser Kerchner, Wellesley, Mass., spoke for the class. Also in the class attending were Sally Mills Wilson, Leon Akers, James Sennett, Dorothy Lang and Barbara Porter Myshrall.

Other speakers were Elsie Spares Arsenault, Tewksbury, Mass., class of 1933; and Douglas Bailey, class of 2003. Ronald White was guest pianist.

Members voted to give alumni awards to Andover-Telstar students only. Present officers will serve one more year.

There were four door prizes.
