1936 – 2003

RICHMOND – Arthur James Lebel Jr., 66, of the Carding Machine Road, passed away Tuesday, June 24, after a lengthy illness.

Born in Boston, Mass., July 24, 1936, the son of Arthur and Nellie (Parsons) Lebel Sr., he graduated from Richmond High School, Class of 1956.

On Sept. 4, 1964, he married Linda Douglass. He dedicated years to his work and family.

After 28 years “Jimmy” retired in 1984 from the State of Maine as an equipment operator and crew leader. He then joined forces with his brother, “Pokie” Lebel and co-owned Lebel Brothers Excavation.

He was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church. He was a member of the Democratic Party and kept abreast of current national and political events.

He enjoyed fishing, camping, boating and especially family gatherings. He found pleasure in sports events and traveling. He sponsored a local men’s softball team for many years. He and Linda spent 10 winters in Cedar Key, Fla., and made many good friends.

Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Linda Lebel of Richmond; daughters, Diane Staples and husband, Win of Richmond and Mary Woodbury and husband, Brian of Jefferson; a son, Curt Lebel and wife, C.J. of Richmond; a brother, Pokie Lebel and companion, Helen of Bowdoin; a sister, Donna Dionne and husband, Andy of Lewiston; six grandchildren, Clint, Chris, Noah, Nick, Nathan and Emily; and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents.
