FRAMINGHAM, Mass. (AP) – Actor Val Kilmer wasn’t doing chores, but he was working on a farm here this week, filming scenes for a new political thriller written and directed by David Mamet.

“Spartan” is being filmed at several Boston-area locations, including a 50-acre farm near Callahan State Park in Framingham.

The film tells the story of a special operations officer, played by the 43-year-old Kilmer, and his protege, who are recruited to find the missing daughter of a high-ranking government official, The MetroWest Daily News reported.

Shooting began Wednesday and was expected to last eight or nine days. Other planned area locations include Charles Street and the new Leonard P. Zakim Bunker Hill Bridge in Boston, the city’s Jamaica Plan neighborhood and the nearby town of Bridgewater, said Robin Dawson of the Massachusetts Film Bureau.
