1923 – 2003
AUBURN – Brenda F. Benson, 80, of Mechanic Falls died Friday at the Odd Fellows Home in Auburn.
She was born in Bath, April 19, 1923, the daughter of Claude and Amy Dority Fifield. She graduated from Mechanic Falls High School and Bliss Business College in Lewiston. She retired in 1979 after 25 years as a bookkeeper at A.Q. Miller Insurance Co. She was a member of the Mechanic Falls United Methodist Church and a past matron of Dwinal Chapter #28 O.E.S. On July 5, 1943, she married Virgil E. Benson.
Survivors include a son James of Inverness, Fla., a daughter Suzanne Lavoie of Mechanic Falls, a brother Glenn Fifield of Industry, 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Benson was predeceased by her parents, her husband, two brothers Deane and Gilbert Fifield, and a sister Norma Fifeld.
