BETHEL – Locke Mills swept a doubleheader from Bessey Motors Saturday as wild pitches spelled the end for Bessey in game one.

Cory Wing singled and scored the first run of the game as Rich Ross drilled a double in the bottom of the second inning. Ross advanced to third on a single from Kyle Kipikas and raced home with the game winning run on a wild pitch from Garrett Olson.

Jeff Austin led the Oxford team with a pair of singles.

Wing notched the victory allowing one run, while Olson took the loss.

Locke Mills pulled ahead in game two for good in the bottom half of the fourth as Tim Turner singled, and Karl Olson doubled to drive in the winning run.

Rich Ross notched the win with relief help from Quinn McAlsiter in the sixth inning.

Poland, Andy Valley split

TURNER – Josh Armandi, who came out of the bullpen with two outs in the first inning and shut the door, knocked in the eventual game-winner with a two-run double in the sixth inning to lead Andy Valley to a 6-5 victory to salvage a split of a doubleheader with Poland.

Pitcher Alex Smith’s second home run of the first game snapped a 2-2 deadlock and Nick Berube belted a grand slam to break open the game as Poland posted 10-2 win.

Chad Schrepper had a home run for Andy Valley.

Armandi struck out 15 hitters over 6 1/3 innings to give his team a chance to come back in the second game.

Jordan Morris’ belted a three-run homer for Andy Valley, while Armandi had a two-run double.

Monmouth sweeps pair

PITTSFIELD – Seth Emery swatted two hits in each game as Monmouth swept a doubleheader with Sabasticook.

Josh Stroup collected two hits and drove in three to help Monmouth to a 12-2 rout in game one. Ben Muniz added a triple to the cause.

Brian Gardner and Adam Shafstall combined to limit the opposition to seven hits.

Jake Hendricks accounted for Sebasticook’s offense with a two-run homer in the fifth.

Pat Duchette (two hits) and Adam Labbe (three hits) drove in three runs apiece in Monmouth’s 12-0 victory in the second game.

Chris Hinkley and Ian McCarthy teamed up on the mound to limit Sabasticook to just four hits.
