MEXICO – Selectmen on Wednesday voted to go on a summer meeting schedule and to put three tax-acquired buildings out to bid.
In a 30-minute meeting, the board agreed to meet July 9 and Aug. 13.
Three abandoned buildings were acquired by the town through nonpayment of taxes and other fees.
Town Clerk Penny Duguay said attempts to work out a payment schedule with the three owners have failed to produce results. She said the town must now insure the buildings until they are sold.
Minimum bids of $3,000, $4,000 and $5,000 will be required. The board will take action on bids at their August meeting.
In other matters, the board canceled a scheduled special meeting for June 26 because of the town manager’s illness. They had planned to review the town manager’s job performance and to work on personnel policies. It will be rescheduled next month.
Following a public hearing, a hawker’s and peddler’s license was granted to Dan Pelletier. He will operate a lunch wagon.
