1939 – 2003

BAR HARBOR – Irene N. Levasseur, 64, of Lewiston, and Naples, Fla., died peacefully Monday, June 30, at a Bar Harbor hospital.

She was born in Lewiston May 14, 1939, the daughter of Norman and Rita (Gastonguay) Lachance. She was a graduate of Lewiston High School and worked for many years at St. Mary’s Hospital as the Communications Director.

She is survived by her husband, O’Neil Levasseur of Naples, Fla.; a son, Marc Levasseur and his wife Tammy of Fort Myers, Fla.; two daughters, Tammy Dow and her husband Alfred “Bunky” Dow of Trenton, and Cynthia Thurston of Bar Harbor; seven grandchildren who she cherished dearly, each with a special place in her heart; a sister, Venise Lachance of Lewiston; a brother, Ronald Lachance of Windham; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
