NORWAY – Selectmen Russ Newcomb returned home Sunday to recover from triple-bypass surgery he had last week.

The surgery was done June 26 at Maine Medical Center in Portland.

“The big thing they told me to do was rest for awhile,” Newcomb said Monday.

He said he would miss the July 3 selectmen’s meeting, but he expected to be back in action for the July 17 meeting.

Newcomb had a heart attack on June 20 while installing an air conditioner in his home in the evening.

He said an angiogram was done on June 23, and it was determined a triple-bypass was needed. The procedure was done on June 26.

Newcomb is chairman of the Board of Selectmen and earlier this month was re-elected to a second term.
