LEWISTON — Kathy Becvar has been hired as director of Resource Development and Marketing by United Way of Androscoggin County.

In addition to extensive knowledge and experience with computer technology, Becvar draws upon many years of fund raising and public relations experience as a former employee of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice. She resides in Lewiston with her husband, Raymond.

Charles Johnson, president and chief executive officer of the United Way of Androscoggin County, said, “Kathy has strong computer skills and Web design knowledge that will help bring the United Way of Androscoggin County into a new technological era. With her skills and talents, the community will begin to see a shift in how the United Way communicates year-round as opposed to once a year during the annual campaign.”

Investors who contribute to the programs funded by the United Way and residents of Androscoggin County will soon see an increase in communications on member agency programs and services and United Way collaborative efforts via expanded e-mail capabilities. A primary focus in early August 2003 will include expansion of the existing Web site, including the ability for individuals and corporations to do online contributions to the United Way.
