1925 – 2003

Lewiston – Edna L. Van Dyke, 78, of Auburn, passed away July 3 at Central Maine Medical Center after enduring a long illness.

She was born May 31, 1925 in East Hampton, N.Y., the daughter of Louis and Lucy Bennett Leedham.

She worked for many years in New York as an electronic assembler and later as a CNA in Freeport.

She was a member of the Community of Christ Church of Freeport and also the Center for the Blind of Lewiston. She enjoyed painting, sketching, crochet, and church functions. She was also an accomplished poet, having had her work published.

She is survived by two sons, Ralph J. Van Dyke Jr., and David L. Van Dyke, both of East Northport, N.Y.; one daughter, Martha L. Hines of Gray; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and seven sisters, all of Long Island, N.Y.

She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph Joseph Van Dyke Sr.; and one brother, George Leedham.
